Snyder, McDonald & Co, LLP was founded in November 2011 with the merger of the accounting and income tax practices of John F. (Jack) Snyder, CPA and John P. McDonald, CPA. Both practitioners had been serving Greensboro and the Triad area of North Carolina for in excess of 30 years and had attracted quality clientele. The two practitioners envisioned that by merging these two accounting practices, quality accounting personnel could be attracted and offered a promising career in a substantial and growing professional practice. The public has embraced this merger and the firm has realized substantial growth since the merger. The firm employs the latest technological advances in accounting and income tax software and continues to provide its clients with the latest in technological services.

John F. (Jack) Snyder, CPA - Managing Partner

 

Jack is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU) with a BS in Accounting.

Prior to commencing his studies at LSU, Jack served four years in the US Air Force as a Medic, the last year or his tour was in Saudi Arabia and various parts of the Middle East.

Upon graduation, Jack was recruited by a National Big 4 accounting firm and relocated to Greensboro, NC. With this Big 4 firm, Jack had excellent audit training and in depth income tax experience. After 3 years, Jack was recruited by a local real estate developer to head up the financial and accounting for this dynamic company. Jack transformed the accounting for this real estate developer to a state of the art computer based accounting system that accounted for (a) over 2,000 rental apartment units, (b) several hundred commercial rental units, (c) development and operation of a 1 million square foot regional shopping mall, (d) construction of residential units with sales of around 200 new dwellings per year, and (e ) accounting for a 500 room hotel/convention center.

In 1976 Jack started his accounting practice. His varied accounting experience aided him in working with his business clients during their business formation and growth periods. Having had "hands on" experience provided him with a wealth of understanding of the challenges that a new and developing business will experience.

During his years as a Certified Public Accountant Jack has developed a wealth of tax experience and has had much success in representing clients in difficult tax audits. He approaches tax planning methodically and strives to prepare tax plans that compliments the client's goals and aspirations.

Jack has served on numerous Boards, Non-Profits and Educational, in both an advisory and financial capacity.

Jack is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

As Managing Partner of Snyder, McDonald & Co, LLP, Jack is setting the course for this firm to move forward into the dynamic business future to professionally serve the accounting and tax needs of its clients with excellent personnel, complimented with excellent education and state of the art technology.

 

John P. McDonald, CPA - Partner

 

John was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BA in History. He received his BS in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and his MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

After graduation from Vanderbilt, John joined the United States Navy and served for over four years. He began his business career with Burlington Industries in New York City and transferred to the headquarters office in Greensboro as an internal auditor. After receiving his MBA, he worked with a large public accounting firm in Atlanta and returned to Greensboro with VF Corporation and Sara Lee Corporation in accounting positions.

John formed his accounting practice in 1981. Due to his varied accounting experience he has developed the in-depth knowledge to advise his clients on the start-up of a new business to complex tax issues. He has a wealth of experience in Trust tax returns and issues, and is on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit for the disabled. John has had excellent results in representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service.

John is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

John receives significant satisfaction from the interaction with his clients and solving their accounting and tax issues.

 

Janice T. Gore, CPA - Manager

 

Janice is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Accounting and Business Management and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. As Manager of the Firm's accounting practice, her 25 years of accounting experience brings a wealth of knowledge to our small business service in the areas of tax, payroll, financial statements, and accounting procedures and controls.

 

Cynthia (Cindy) Laughlin - Administrator

 

Cindy is a native of Greensboro and attended North Carolina State University. She has over 15 years experience in the administrative field, with 9 years as office manager of the predecessor firm, John P. McDonald, PA, CPA.

As Firm Administrator, Cindy has a tremendous responsibility for keeping up with all of our clients files and transactions. Cindy performs her Administrator duties with great attention to accuracy and detail.
