The Rossland Trail Country Club was organized on April 22, 1922. The first year there were 81 shareholders, 56 were playing members. The first course was on what was known as Floyd Ranch (Water Hole) located just above Warfield. In 1926 the Club, with land leased from Cominco constructed the nine hole course in Rossland.

The Birchbank Course is Added

In 1962 on property once again leased from Cominco, construction of the Birchbank course began, with the first nine holes completed in 1964. The back nine and the clubhouse were completed in 1969. The course was designed by local golf professional Roy Stone.

The RTCC purchased the Birchbank property from Cominco in 2004.

On the farm that was at the current site of Birchbank Golf Course, W.S. Harrison runs a horse drawn hay rake.

Now – One Great Course

2006 marked the end of the Rossland course for the Rossland Trail Country Cub. With Cominco having sold the Rossland land, a lease buyout was negotiated with the current owners.

Since 1962 several changes have been made at the Birchbank course including the reconstruction of several greens, hole relocations, additional bunkers and tee boxes as well as a new irrigation system which included the ponds situated along #12 and #15 fairways.

Rossland Trail Country Club has developed into one of the finest golf courses in the Kootenays and is sure to provide an excellent golf experience for every level of golfer.
