Local Diving

Our boats leave on a daily basis for 2 or 3 tank dives. A PADI Instructor will guide you in a small group with max 4 divers.  There are more than 20  local dive sites which are between 15 to 20 min boat rides The Gulf of Papagayo offers some of the Pacific Ocean most interesting marine diversity.   The plankton-rich waters support numerous species from big to small. On any given day you may see big schools of fish, small nudibranchs, spotted eagle rays, sting rays, white tip or nurse sharks or you might have a lucky encounter with the  giant manta rays, Big Turtles, or a passing whale shark. Dolphins are also a common site during the boat ride. This makes local diving very interesting.

Catalina ISLANDS – Isla Catalinas

Catalina islands offers a great opportunity to swim with the Pacific giant mantas as well as huge schools of fish and sharks.  Dolphins, humpback whales, and orcas are seen very frequent during the Catalina Island trips. Usually on the way up or back.  Diving here is suited for certified open water divers with some experience. This is because the dives might have some strong currents. If you’re not sure if your diving experience is enough, please feel free to contact us.

Bat Islands – Islas Murciélagos

The Bat Islands are considered a world class dive area. Diving here is reserved for advanced divers. Before you can dive here, you must be able to swim in strong currents, rough surface conditions, and make quick descents.  If you are advanced certified, it is really a dive that can’t be missed. Murcielago is really the premiere scuba destination in Costa Rica.  The area is located in the Santa Rosa national park, which is a  protected area and divers are asked to pay a $15 park fee.  We require, seen the diving conditions that you’re a PADI Advanced Diver (or equivalent). We might take you on a local dive in the days leading up to the Bat Islands tour, to make sure we can guarantee you a safe dive there, based on your current level.
