Home Inspections

A standard home inspection on a modest sized home will take a 2 1/2 to 3 hours.  The inspection is a top to bottom (roof to foundation) visual examination of the house and its components.  The report will summarize the conditions of the heating and air conditioning systems, electrical systems, interior plumbing, roof, attic, visible insulation, walls, ceilings, floor, windows and doors, foundation and basement/crawl space.  Major repairs and upcoming maintenance are discussed at the inspection and included in the report as necessary.

Radon Testing

Radon is a naturally occuring radioactive gas found in soil.  It enters houses and can cause health issues if you are exposed to it for long periods of time.  The only way to know if you have Radon in your home is to test for it.  As a licensed Radon tester in WV, the results of my test can be used in a real estate transaction.   I use a monitor that will provide the results of the test as soon as I can connec tthe monitor to my office computer.  You will get the results the day I retrieve my equipment from your home.

Mold Inspections

Mold is found everywhere, including inside homes.  The concern that you have is whether the mold is actively growing and whether it can cause health problems.  Most people want to know if they have mold as a precaution before buying their homes.  Visible colonies are easy to test.  If there are no visible colnies, mold may still be present in wall cavities and be otherwise hidden.  Mold spores will be in the air, though, and they can be collected using air sampling equipment.  I have the ability to collect samples from both the visible colonies and from the air if there is nothing visible.  A laboratory will analyze the samples and determine what kind of mold is present.  You cna then make an informed decision as to how to treat the mold, if necessary.
