My 16 years experience as a licensed carpenter, working primarily in residential construction, has helped gain the knowledge that one needs to perform a proper home inspection.  I have completed over 1500 inspections in the past 6 years.  These inspections have covered a variety of different building types.

I am a Registered Home Inspector and a member of the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors.  This is the only home inspection organization that is recognized by the Ontario Government.  Be leery of any other organizations or inspectors that use the term “Certified Home Inspector”. The classification of “certified” can easily be obtained by a few simple online tests.

I also have the designation of a Certified Energy Advisor. Such training helps me aid home buyers with regards to the energy efficiency of their potential home.

I am also a Qualified Level 1 Thermal/Infrared Thermographer for residential buildings.  This qualification is used to determine the level of training with regards to thermal imaging.  It is one of the few qualifications that are accepted in accordance with ASNT-TC 1A Guidelines.  Again, be cautious when hiring an inspector who claims certification in this area.
