Stove & Upholstery Works was started in the early 70’s under the name of Bay City Stove Works. The original business was started by Max Herman and located across from the post office in Ashland. In the early 80’s it changed locations to the rail road property on Ellis Avenue. Steve & Karin Pierce took over the business in 1982. In 1985 The Upholstery Shop moved in with Bay City Stove Works. In 1986 The business moved to its present location of 1406 East Lake Shore Drive also known as US Highway 2. At that time the two businesses names were consolidated into the name of
Stove and Upholstery Works.
Bay Area Fire Protection was added in 2004.
Our Upholsterer retired in 2012 and our name was changed to our current name of
Stove & Fireplace Works
