Your space – a place to call your home
See the gracious splendor of Peterborough’s Landmark Retirement Residence, built in 1875 as South Central School. In 1964 Governor General George Vanier chaired the opening ceremonies as the building became the original campus of Trent University, renamed Rubidge Hall by founders of Trent University. In 1985 the building took on a new life as a home for seniors.
Extensive renovations have been completed while maintaining the historical character. Suites are sensitively woven amongst the existing elements resulting in unique spaces – 15 foot high barreled ceilings, 10 foot windows, and crown moulding gives the space an air of grandeur. We are proud to have won the Peterborough Examiner’s coveted Readers Choice Award for top retirement home in the area.
Our building offers you a comfortable home. There are several common areas where you can relax, visit with friends and have a spot of tea or a cup of coffee. The snack bar, movie theatre, award winning gardens, Chapel, Salvation Spa and internet lounges are among the areas available for your enjoyment.
If privacy is required, you can retreat to your own personal space. Many suites offer over 500 square feet of living space. Spacious units include floor plans with one and two bedrooms as well as studio type models. All of our suites, with high ceilings, crown mouldings, oak kitchenettes and hardwood flooring, are perfect for individuals or couples looking for affordable luxury.
